about the dittmers

We were engaged 4 months after we met, tied the knot 5 months later, and have been married ever since. We have two beautiful children and a crazy jack russell terrier.

We have a freestyle, fun loving nature that really sets us aprt from traditional photographers. We love to just sit back and take the shots as we see them happening. We capture every detail, every laugh, and every smile.

LOVED LOVED LOVED this wedding!  Every detail, the dress, the people, the atmosphere, everything was AWESOME!  EXCEPT the weather was a tad cool for my liking!  It was about 35-40 degrees when we shot at the park.

A Bridal Rave…

Tuesday, October 13th, 2009

Here is an email I received last week from a bride whose wedding we shot last Oct. 2008.  She was emailed by another potential bride and this is what she had to say.  Thanks so much for the kind words Brittany and Jason.  You guys rock!

“Hi Cherly! My husband Jason and I are very happy to help you! We understand how important it is to find a great photographer for a special day, such as a wedding!  If you need anything else, just let us know!

1. Were they on time for appointments and photo shoots? Yes, they were very punctual.  They were actually waiting on us a couple of times!  Something we really appreciated was the fact that they had everything together and ready to go when we arrived at meetings.  Sometimes the brides and grooms are a little unorganized when there is a lot on their plates!

2. Did they respond to emails & phone calls quickly? Yes, very quickly.  Emails are especially speedy, because they’re always on their computers editing photos.

3. Were they pleasent to work with? Oh, yeah. They are very nice and never pushy.  They don’t seem to get flustered either. We have a very large family, so we were worried it might be a bit stressful for them, but they rounded everyone up with no problems!

4. Did they take all the shots you asked them to? Yes, they did. We only had a few specific requests, but they weren’t small by any means. One of them was for my husband…he grew up around horses and he loves the outdoors. Jason traveled out to my husband’s parents’s house the morning of our wedding with him and all of his groomsmen. The groomsmen got on 4 lighter colored horses, while my husband got on a black horse, and they took photos with their suit jackets and jeans on. The pictures were amazing! Jason captured everything that meant a lot to my husband. Megan followed my girls and I around, and she even had to deal with a slight delay in the schedule. One of my bridesmaids became extremely ill while we were getting our hair done, and Megan lost out on some valuable photo time. I was so impressed how she came back from that, and with the pictures that she took, no one would have known that we were behind schedule! (FYI, my bridesmaid took some medicine and was able to be the wedding! It was a miracle!)

A lot of times, couples KNOW that they want all of the details of the wedding photographed, but they don’t know how to convey that to a photographer. It’s hard when you don’t know a lot about photography, because you don’t know which shots are best to take. The Dittmers were very knowledgable, and took all the right pictures. It’s almost as if they read our minds……now we won’t forget anything about that day!

5. Did you get your photos at the agreed upon time? Oh yeah! They were on the ball when it came to getting our pictures to us. I was dragging my feet a little bit when they were putting our album together because of my busy schedule, but I was thankful that Megan was there to send me friendly e-mail reminders. They really love what they do, and they are always on top of things.

6. Were you happy with your photos?  Anything you were unhappy with? You know…most people have SOMETHING that they are unhappy with when it comes to wedding photos because they want everything to be PERFECT on their wedding day. Fortunately, we weren’t unhappy with a single thing. We got really lucky because we didn’t know anyone who had used the Dittmers and I actually discovered them while searching on the internet! They even lived about an hour away from us! It means a lot when a photographer goes out of their way for you.

7.Would you still go with them if you had to do it over again? In a heartbeat! We would like to use them in the future for different things as well.

8.  On a scale of 1-10, how would you rank them? 10+

9.  Do you know them personally? We didn’t know them personally, but we do now! If you choose to go with them, you will see that they are more like friends (with extreme talent!) than photographers taking your photos. We enjoy keeping in touch with them.”

We loved them during their engagement shoot a few months back, but the wedding really reminded us of just how cool these two people are.  They are the most laid-back couple with a smile on their face the entire day, nothing could get these guys down.  The wedding party was just as nice and the whole day just went perfect.  Very happy we were able to photograph such a wonderful couple and wedding.

Had a GREAT e-session with these two.  Very excited to shoot the wedding this October 10th.  They did their research and found an awesome park in Lenexa, KS called Black Hoof Park.  The pictures show and tell all….

Had such a great time at this wedding and reception. The wedding was at St. Paul’s Methodist Church in Joplin then we all headed over to the real party at Downstream Casino. Which was such a great place to have a reception. It was all outside and the pool looked so good we just wanted to jump right in (it was about 90-95 degrees out)!  Oh, and yes we did a little gambling afterwards, but unfortunately lost it all (I guess it’s a good thing we only spent $20 on slots)!

Thanks again for having us there and we hope you enjoy the photos. Check out more on Facebook

Kathy + Brian

Tuesday, August 11th, 2009

This was by far the best dancing crew we have had! Everyone rocked it and didn’t stop until the night was over. Kathy + Brian were married on the campus of William Jewel College at Grand River Chapel. Then we headed over to Shoal Creek Golf Course for the party.

Thanks for having us share your day with you Kathy + Brian.  You guys looked great!

Abbie + Andy

Sunday, July 26th, 2009

Our first time out to Fort Scott and I gotta say it was really nice. Abbie got ready at Lyons Mansion. A beautiful huge historic mansion, which they use as a Bed and Breakfast now.

Abbie and Andy were a very sweet couple as was the entire wedding party. Super nice all day! Everything went smoothly and we turned out with some killer shots.
